Apk and Mod apk are not the same. There is a different between them.
Apk ( Android application package ) is normal/original app file developed by the owner of the app that can be installed in google android operating system.
Mod Apk is file cracked/modified by experienced user. It can be concluded that they hacked the performance of the file to perform certain function which is not meant so by the developer. For example in subway surf game apk we need to earn some coins or buy them in order to use it but in MOD apk we can get unlimited coins.
A general/normal apk file consists of applications code such as .dex files, manifest files, assets, resource files while MOD apk consists of the same with extra codes which some time cause harm to the data present in the device.
